Much has happened since I wrote this website some years ago.

As I sit here in 2025, I feel very sad and unhappy that I lost the love of my life last year. I also lost my best friend and confidant.

Lesley meant everything to me, she changed my life in 1977 when we first met. It truly was love at first sight, and for over 40 years nothing changed.

We loved each other so deeply that nothing or no one could ever come between us, our lives depended totally on each other.

Our happiest times were spent at first on Greek Islands, then later alone in our caravan, away from the world and just the two of us in a country we did not speak the language, we spent 12 weeks a year in that situation and loved every minute, even when problems arrived.

When she died, we were holding hands in our lounge as she took her last breath, and she took my heart with her.

It was Monday September 30th at 6.41 am.

It has taken me nine months to return to this history and the end of it is deeply personal and includes Lesley’s own biography which I am so grateful that I persuaded her to write in 2000.

As we look back from the 21st century it is amazing to think how so much has changed in our lifetime.

The idea of this site was to tell our stories for generations to come of what life was like as we lived through this period of dramatic changes.

In 1958 while serving as a medical orderly in the R.A.F. I was stationed at R.A.F. Syerston and was involved in the crash of a Vulcan bomber. My involvement in that incident has led to many contacts with other people who were affected by it.

In 2005 Lesley was diagnosed with non-Hodgkins Lymphoma and I began writing a blog to share our experiences as we fought this disease together. Later as she recovered the site became a holiday blog and a link to that blog can be found at 'Our Blogspot'

We have also included the D.Day memories of Lesley's Uncle Cyril who carried the effects of his war time experiences all his life.

Over the years I have traced my family history back to the 18th century and include it here

During the Covid Pandemic of 2020/2021 we were in total lockdown for over a year and Lesley occupied the long hours by drawing posters to thank the NHS and others who helped us to get through the isolation.

Finally we hope to continue our travels in our beloved caravan and record the trips here in a new 'Travel Blog'
